Pard The interconnection network is one of the most important multicomputer components, since it has a great impact on global system performance. Many models and simulators have been proposed to evaluate network performance. This paper presents SimuRed, an event-driven flit-level, cycle-accurate simulator to evaluate different orthogonal network configurations. The core of the simulator has been designed to be expandable and portable to different situations. Some of the advantages of this simulator over other similar tools are its visual interface, its fast execution and its simplicity. Moreover, it is multiplatform and its source code versions (C++ and Java) are freely available under GNU open-source license. The performance of this simulator has been evaluated, including a performance impact study of injection channels and deterministic/adaptive routing for meshes and hypercubes. 2009 Elsevier Ltd. The Design and Performance Evaluation of the DI-Multicomputer

In this paper, we propose a new multicomputer node architecture, the DI-multicomputer which uses packet routing on a uniform point-to-point interconnect for both local memory access and intern-ode communication. This is achieved by integrating a router onto each processor chip and eliminating the memory bus interface. Since communication resources such as pins and wires are allocated dynamicall...

A Performance Enhanced and Cost Effective Deadlock Recovery Scheme for Adaptive Wormhole Routed Networks

Deadlock free routing of messages is a challenge for the performance of directly connected network systems. Communication among the nodes of a directly connected multicomputer system is via message exchange. The wormhole routing is perceived as the best switching technique in directly connected systems. The technique suffers the challenges like deadlock avoidance. Deadlock recovery faces cost o...

An Efficient Object-Oriented Architecture for the Design and Implementation of an Adaptable Network Simulator

Simulation is an important part of the design and evaluation of networking protocols. Currently, there exist several network simulation tools which are available to researchers such as OPNET, ns-2, and others. Although they are very useful for a wide range of simulation experiments which involve performance evaluation of existing protocols that are supported by these tools, selecting them to ve...
